Whether you lease or finance a vehicle largely comes down to personal preference and your available budget. While financing allows you to own your vehicle with no stipulations by the time the agreement ends, it costs more every month. On the other hand, leasing is less expensive monthly, but you’ll have to return the vehicle to our dealership after a set period of time.
What Are Mileage Caps?
Most leasing agreements come with some sort of yearly mileage limit since the number of miles on your vehicle determines how much it's worth upon return. Usually, this limit falls between 10,000 and 15,000 miles yearly. If you know you need more, it’s possible to negotiate a high-mileage lease.
How Much Do I Owe Up Front?
While many leases have drive-off fees that you’ll need to pay upon signing a contract, there’s no requirement for a large down payment like there is when you choose to finance a Mazda vehicle. Unlike financing, there isn’t much of a benefit to putting a lot of money down up front and you’ll likely still pay a similar amount over time.
What Happens at the End of a Lease?
When your lease period comes to an end, you have one of three options. The first option is simply to return the vehicle. You can also decide to do a trade-in which allows you to swap your current leased vehicle for something else – this allows you to try multiple new cars in a short time. You’ll also have the option to purchase your current vehicle outright.
