One of the newest in the Mazda CX line, the 2025 Mazda CX-30 is beloved by drivers for its impressive features and striking design. This model may not have a long history, but over its five years on the market, it’s already made a large impact. The Sansone Mazda team is highlighting key moments in its brief history.

2019: The MAZDA CX-30 Debuts

Drivers got their first look at the Mazda CX-30 at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Designed as the SUV counterpart of the Mazda3, it offered more cargo space while maintaining Mazda’s renowned performance and styling. The model featured a 2.0-liter Skyactiv®-G inline-four gasoline engine as standard in most regions, producing 122 horsepower. In select markets, a 1.8-liter Skyactiv®-D diesel engine was available as an option, delivering 116 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque.

The 2019 model was not available in the United States; the 2020 Mazda CX-30, which was released soon after, was the first Mazda CX-30 model in the US market. It featured a powerful Skyactiv®-G gasoline engine instead of a diesel engine.

2021: A New Turbo Engine

Starting with the 2021 model, the Mazda CX-30 could be outfitted with an available 2.5-liter Skyactiv®-G turbo engine. This powertrain generates a maximum of 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque, unlocking additional power for off-road and highway driving.

2022: Superior Safety

Every year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) publishes the results of its safety tests by highlighting the safest vehicles on the market. In 2022, the Mazda CX-30 was awarded the Top Safety Pick+ distinction, indicating excellence above and beyond for vehicle safety. This model subsequently won this award in 2023 and 2024 as well.
