How to Change a Flat Tire on Your Mazda Vehicle
You walk out and see a sight no one wants to see – a flat tire. No matter what, there’s never a convenient time and place to get a flat. That’s why it’s important to know how the basics of changing a tire, and it’s just as important to get your tire replaced or repaired at Sansone Mazda.
The most important factor when dealing with a flat tire is safety. If you get a flat tire while driving, remain calm. Carefully steer your vehicle to the side of the road and away from traffic. Make sure you have a clear opening before exiting your vehicle. Even if you notice a flat while you’re parked, it’s still important to be aware of your surroundings.
Once you know you can safely change your tire, prepare everything you need. Make sure you are on a flat road and the emergency brake is engaged. Get your spare tire, jack, and tire iron. Don’t forget a flashlight if it’s dark out. Start by using the tire iron to loosen the lug nuts on your tire, as they should be very tight. Don’t remove them completely.
Next, you need to use your car jack to raise your Mazda car or SUV until the tire is completely off the ground. Then, you can remove the lug nuts completely and your tire. Make sure everything is secure so nothing gets lost in the transfer. Next, you’ll want to line up the spare tire and secure it with your lug nuts.
